The Goal: Use the Web Content custom tool in Email Designer to automatically pull a list of database content (job postings, news releases, hot deals, etc.) into your newsletter or email without manually entering the data.
Before You Begin:
- Have the web content you want to promote (job postings, news releases, hot deals, etc.) already published so it can be pulled into a list.
- Have an Email Designer newsletter or email template open and ready to edit.
The Custom Tools in Email Designer are designed to pull in lists of database information into your newsletter without having to manually enter data. The Custom Tools are found at the bottom of the tool panel in Email Designer.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Add a List of Web Content
| Promote your job postings, news releases, hot deals, etc. using the Web Content custom tool. Once included in your newsletter/email, recipients will be able to click the link to view the featured content. |
- Go to Marketing & Communication, Communication section, click Email Designer, then open the newsletter or email you want to edit.
- Drag and drop the Web Content tool from the bottom of the tool panel into your newsletter.
- Choose the web content list you wish to include. The default title for this block will be “Web Content” — use the editor to customize your title, format the text, add custom fields, links, and more.
- Choose the number of items to be displayed.
- Choose the details to be included: Title, Sub title, Description, Image, etc.
Use the text editor to update and format the web content block.
Common Pitfalls
- No content appears: If your block comes up empty, confirm the web content you want to feature is published before adding the tool — the Web Content tool can only pull items that already exist in the database.
