The Goal: Understand where and how members can use ACH (bank account) payments across GrowthZone modules, and what staff can and cannot do on their behalf.
Before You Begin:
- ACH payments are available to GrowthZone Pay customers only.
- Important: Staff cannot enter ACH bank information on a customer's behalf. Due to privacy restrictions, only customers can enter their bank information. When entered through the Info Hub, microdeposits will be verified. When entered through a module form, they will be directed to their personal online banking platform.
- Customers must already have an online banking platform created with their bank.
Where ACH Payments Are Available
There are several areas in the database where customers can enter their ACH bank information instead of a credit card number. ACH payments are recorded on a contact's Billing tab as Payment - Bank. If the bank is not listed, the customer would need to pay with a credit card.
-
Events — The event registration form allows customers the option to pay by ACH.
-
Fundraising — A Fundraising campaign will have the ACH option available at the end of the donation form.
-
Info Hub — Members can add their bank account in the Info Hub by selecting Actions under My Billing Info. On the Edit Payment Information screen, they can select US Bank Account. See related article: Store Bank Account/ACH Profile in the Info Hub.
-
Membership Application — At the end of the membership application, ACH will be available as a payment option. Customers enter their bank account information and select Enroll in Autopay. ACH processing depends on the settings selected in the Edit Membership Application Form (such as Automatically Approve Applications or Capture Payment Profile and Charge on Approval). See related article: Setting Up and Managing Autopay.
NOTE: Credit Card must be enabled under Membership Type Pricing for ACH to be available on the application.
-
Store — Customers can select store products, and when prompted to Proceed to Checkout, an ACH payment option will appear.
-
Web Content — If you are charging for Web Content, the ACH option will appear on the Payment Information screen.
Staff Testing Tip
If staff want to see ACH options as an example, it is recommended that they create a test contact record, create a test invoice to pay, and then log in to that record in an incognito window or a browser not used to log in to GrowthZone. See Contact Records for Testing for more information.
Common Pitfalls
- Staff attempting to enter ACH on behalf of a member: This is not possible due to privacy restrictions. Only the member can enter their bank information.
- Bank not listed in drop-down: If a customer's bank is not listed, they will need to pay by credit card instead.
