The Goal: Disable a question on a form or survey so it no longer appears, while preserving all previously collected responses in your database.
Before You Begin:
- You need staff access to manage forms and surveys.
- Best practice is to disable a question rather than delete it — disabling keeps prior responses intact. If you need to change a question’s field type (for example, from a drop-down to a text field), disable the original question to retain its responses, then re-create the question with the desired field type.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Marketing & Communication, Communication section, click Forms/Surveys, then click the name of the form or survey in which you wish to deactivate a question.
Click the ellipsis
in the Actions column for the question you would like to disable, and select the Disable Custom Field toggle.
- Click Done.
Common Pitfalls
- Deleting instead of disabling: Deleting a question removes its previously collected responses. Always disable the question instead to keep historical responses in your database.
