The Goal: Understand and configure a Membership Type discount so that an event registration discount applies automatically based on the registrant’s membership type.
Before You Begin:
- You need permission to create and edit event registration fees and discounts.
- Have ready the membership type(s) the discount should apply to. Membership Type is a multi-select field, so the same discount can be assigned to more than one membership type
How a Membership Type Discount Works
- The Membership Type field provides a discount based on the membership type of the registrant. This is a multi-select field, allowing you to use the same discount for more than one membership type.
- Membership Type Discounts validate on a person-by-person basis and will only apply to actual members.
Example of the Membership Type discount configuration: - Total Available Per Membership is for a membership owned by a business and limits how many uses of this discount can be used by all members related to that business.
Common Pitfalls
- Expecting the discount to apply to non-members: Membership Type Discounts validate person-by-person and only apply to actual members — non-members will not receive the discount.
