The Goal: Create a stand-alone Objective (one not assigned to a Category) within an Objective Collection in the Continuing Education area.
Before You Begin:
- At least one Objective Collection must already exist before you can add Objectives. See Create Objective Collections if needed.
- Objectives are the skills/knowledge that are required. They are added to Collections and can be "stand alone" or assigned to a Category.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Events & Learning, Continuing Education section, click Objectives.
- Click the name of the desired Collection to open it.
- Click the plus icon in the Actions column at the root Collection level (not inside a Category row) to add a stand-alone Objective.
- In the Add Objective dialog box, enter the appropriate information:
- Category Name: Leave blank for a stand-alone Objective (no category assignment).
- Category Code: Will display the Code of the Category Name selected (blank if no category is chosen).
- Code: Similar in function to the Collection and Category Codes; used for organization and reporting.
- Name: Name of the Objective.
- Description: Description of the Objective.
- Click Done.
Common Pitfalls
- Accidentally adding to a Category: If you click the plus icon inside a Category row instead of at the Collection root level, the Objective will be assigned to that Category. Check that the Category Name field is blank before clicking Done.
- No Collection exists: The Objectives page will appear empty if no Collections have been created yet. Create a Collection first using the Add Objective Collection button.
