The Goal: Create a top-level Objective Category within an existing Objective Collection to organize Objectives into logical groups.
Before You Begin:
- At least one Objective Collection must already exist. See Create Objective Collections if needed.
- Categories are optional but helpful for associations that need to organize a large or deep set of Objectives.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Events & Learning, Continuing Education section, click Objectives.
- Click the name of the Collection you want to add a Category to.
- Click the Add Objective Category button in the top right corner.
- In the Add Objective Category dialog, configure the following:
- Category Name: This option is used when creating sub-categories. Leave blank when creating a top-level Category.
- Category Code: This will display the Code of the Category Name if one is selected.
- Code: Similar in function to the Collection Code; used for organization and reporting.
- Name: Name of the Category.
- Description: Description of the Category.
- Click Done.
Common Pitfalls
- Creating a Sub-category instead of a top-level Category: If you fill in the Category Name field, the new Category will be created as a child of that parent. Leave Category Name blank for a top-level Category.
- Button not visible: The Add Objective Category button only appears after you have clicked into a Collection. Make sure you have clicked the Collection name first.Changes applied:
- Rule 2 (Form B): "On the Objectives tab" → "Go to Events & Learning, Continuing Education section, click Objectives"
- Rule 4: "the Objectives tab" (main-nav tab) → "Objectives" page reference updated throughout
