The Goal: Understand how variable dues information is gathered from applicants on the Membership Application Form so the system can automatically calculate the correct dues amount.
Before You Begin:
- You need a membership type configured with variable (formula-based) dues. Membership types are managed under Memberships, click Settings.
- You must have created the numeric custom fields that feed the dues formula, so they are available to display on the application form.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- When an applicant selects a membership type that includes variable dues, the second page of the Membership Application Form displays a section called Information for Dues Calculations.
- This section contains the custom fields you created as numeric input to the dues formula. The applicant enters the requested values into these fields.
Example of the Information for Dues Calculations section on the application form: - Based on the input into these fields, the system automatically calculates the appropriate dues for the applicant.
Common Pitfalls
- Missing dues-calculation fields: If the numeric custom fields are not added to the formula and the application form, the Information for Dues Calculations section will not appear, and the system cannot compute variable dues. Confirm the fields are configured on the membership type before publishing the application form.
