The Goal: Set the overall proration option for a membership type so that new membership fees prorate correctly for each billing frequency.
Before You Begin:
- You need permission to manage membership types and pricing.
- Proration is a function of billing frequency and proration option. Settings here apply to ALL goods and services associated with this membership; you can override these settings for individual goods/services if needed.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Memberships, Settings section, click Membership Types.
- For the desired membership, click the pricing hyper-link.
- In the Payment Options section, choose the Proration Interval you wish to use for each frequency.
NOTE: The system will not prorate new membership fees if the proration interval is longer than the billing frequency. For example, Quarterly payments cannot be prorated on a Semiannual basis. See Proration Examples for details on the impact of each option. - Click Save to finalize your changes.
Common Pitfalls
- Proration interval longer than the billing frequency: If the proration interval is longer than the billing frequency (e.g., a Semiannual interval on Quarterly payments), the system will not prorate new membership fees. Match the interval to a period equal to or shorter than the billing frequency.
