The Goal: Associate an individual contact with an existing (or new) business organization record so the relationship is reflected on the individual’s profile.
Before You Begin:
- You need access to the individual contact’s record whose business association you want to update.
- Have the organization's name ready. If the organization does not yet exist in your database, you can create a new organization record during this process.
Step-by-Step Instructions
On the individual’s Overview tab, click the
in the Businesses section.
On the Associate Business screen, begin entering the organization's name. If the organization exists in your database, select the organization, and its information will be populated. If the organization does not exist, you will create a new organization record. Contact information for the business will be displayed, and you can choose to associate that contact information with the individual. Additionally, you can choose to end the link between the individual and other organizations in the End Role section.
- Click Done. The individual is now associated with the new organization.
Common Pitfalls
- Creating a duplicate organization: Always search for the existing organization first and select it from the results. Only create a new organization record when no match exists to avoid duplicate business contacts in your database.
