The Goal: Create custom sales stages that identify the level of engagement a prospect has had with your sales team, matching your association's own sales process.
Before You Begin:
- You need staff access to the Sales Funnel settings.
- Have your list of stages ready (for example: hot, warm, cold) so you can enter a name and description for each.
Sales stages allow you to identify the level of engagement a prospect has had with your sales team. You may define sales stages that match your business processes. Examples of stages may include hot, warm, cold, and so on. You may customize these to meet your needs.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Go to Contacts, Sales Funnel section, click Settings and select Sales Stages.
Click the Add button.
- On the Add/Edit Sales Stage screen, enter a Name and Description for the sales stage.
- Click Done to finalize your changes.
| NOTE: Sales Stages may also be added “on the fly” when creating a sales opportunity. |
Common Pitfalls
- Vague stage names: Stages that don't clearly map to a level of engagement make the sales funnel hard to read. Give each stage a distinct name and description so your team applies them consistently.
