The Goal: Configure Sales Opportunity Status Reasons so you can categorize why a sales opportunity is in a particular stage and analyze that data in reporting.
Before You Begin:
- You need staff access with permission to manage Sales Funnel settings.
- No Sales Opportunity Status Reasons are configured by default — expect an empty list the first time you open this page.
Sales Opportunity Status Reasons provide you with a way to categorize why a sales opportunity may be in a certain stage. For example, if a sales stage is “on-hold”, you may use the sales opportunity status reason to provide further clarification on why the opportunity was put on-hold. Sales Opportunity Status Reasons are also used for reporting purposes that will allow you to further analyze.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Contacts, Sales Funnel section, click Settings.
Click Sales Opportunity Status Reasons in the Settings section. A list of the Sales Opportunity Status Reasons already configured in your system will be displayed (none will be configured by default).
Click the Add button.
- On the Add/Edit Sales Opportunity Reason screen, enter a Name for the reason.
- Click Done to save the new reason.
| NOTE: You may also add new reasons “on the fly” when creating a new opportunity in the Sales Funnel module. |
Common Pitfalls
- Forgetting to click Done: Entering a Name on the Add/Edit Sales Opportunity Reason screen does not save it — you must click Done for the new reason to appear in the list.
