The Goal: Manually update the next bill date for a membership on a contact's record.
Before You Begin:
- Understand how your membership types are configured: next bill dates are set based on either an anniversary date (for anniversary renewals) or the 1st of the selected renewal month (for fixed-month renewals). See Add a New Membership Type for details.
- If Enforce Date Rules on Fixed Renewal Month Memberships is enabled in your system, the next bill date may not be editable. See Membership Global Settings.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Navigate to the contact's record. On the Billing Setup tab, click the hyperlink for the membership you wish to update.
- On the Edit Membership Billing screen, change the Next Bill Date.
Note: If the membership has multiple fee items, you will need to change each Next Bill Date individually. - Click Done.
Common Pitfalls
- Enforce Date Rules enabled: If your organization has enabled Enforce Date Rules on Fixed Renewal Month Memberships, you will not be able to update the date. Check Membership Global Settings if the field appears locked.
- Multiple fee items: Each fee item within the membership has its own Next Bill Date field. Update each one individually or dates will be inconsistent.
