The Goal: Add or expand the gender options available when editing a contact, so the Gender field reflects the choices your organization wants to offer.
Before You Begin:
- You need staff access to the Settings area to edit configuration lists.
- GrowthZone ships with a set of default gender options — review them before adding duplicates.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to Settings, General Settings section, click Genders. Here you will find the defaults.

To add a gender, click the Add button.

Enter your desired option, enable the “Is Active” checkbox, and click Done.
Where the Gender Field Appears
The Gender field is available when editing a contact's details in the back office or the Info Hub, can be added to a Membership Application, and is also available in the Info Hub. It is also an available field within the Contacts Report.
Back Office (click the Edit Individual button on the right to edit):
On the My Info tab of the Info Hub (click the pencil to the right of the contact name to edit):

Common Pitfalls
- Forgetting the Is Active checkbox: A gender option will not appear as a selectable choice unless “Is Active” is enabled when you add it.
