Before You Begin:
- You must have the QuickBooks Online integration enabled and connected in GrowthZone.
- You need permission to manage integration settings in GrowthZone and to assign classes to products/services in QuickBooks Online.
- Decide whether your association wants to manage classes entirely in QuickBooks Online (Option 1, recommended) or configure them in GrowthZone and map them to QuickBooks Online (Option 2).
Step-by-Step Instructions
There are 2 options for using classes with the QuickBooks Online integration. Option 1 is recommended.
Option 1:
Use Classes Only in QuickBooks Online *recommended |
Assign transaction classes to a product/service in QuickBooks Online. Any time a transaction syncs from GrowthZone to QuickBooks Online and maps to that product/service, the class will be applied to that line item. If you select this option you do not have to complete any mapping for classes in the Transaction Classes mapping for QuickBooks Online under Settings, Integrations section.
|
Option 2:
Configure Classes in GrowthZone and Map to QuickBooks Online |
We only recommend this option if you have previously configured classes in GrowthZone for use with QuickBooks Desktop. Any classes you assign in GrowthZone will be overridden by classes assigned to a product/service in QuickBooks Online. Complete the mapping Transaction Classes.

Common Pitfalls
- Double-mapping classes: If you assign classes to products/services in QuickBooks Online (Option 1) you do not need to map classes in GrowthZone. Completing the mapping anyway adds no value, because classes assigned to a product/service in QuickBooks Online always override classes assigned in GrowthZone.
- Choosing Option 2 without prior Desktop setup: Option 2 is only recommended for associations that previously configured classes in GrowthZone for use with QuickBooks Desktop. For everyone else, use Option 1.
