The Goal: Configure a landing page form so that submitting it immediately downloads a file, by sending the visitor to a direct file URL.
Before You Begin:
- You have a landing page with a form already created (or in progress).
- You have the file you want visitors to download, and a direct URL to it. If you don’t have one yet, you can upload the file to the Cloud drive and generate a sharing link — see Create a Sharing Link for Documents in the Cloud.
- Permission to edit landing pages.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Get the direct URL to your file. If you want to link straight to the file, upload it to the Cloud drive and create a sharing link — follow the steps in Create a Sharing Link for Documents in the Cloud to generate a URL you can share.
- Open the landing page you want to edit and go to its form configuration.
- In the Form Actions section, locate the Redirect to Website field.
- In the Redirect to Website field, enter the direct file URL from Step 1. This sends the visitor straight to the file download as soon as the form is submitted. (If you’d rather provide more context about the download first, you can point this field to another landing page instead of the file.)
- Click Save to finalize your changes.
Common Pitfalls
- Using an indirect or page URL: If the URL in the Redirect to Website field points to a web page rather than the file itself, the visitor won’t get an immediate download. Use the direct file/sharing URL unless you intentionally want to send them to another landing page first.
