What this does: Shows how GrowthZone works out prorated dues (dues charged for part of a year), so you can check a prorated amount on an invoice.
Applies to: GrowthZone staff checking prorated membership invoices.
Before you start: Know the full annual dues for the membership type and how many months you are prorating.
Time needed: About 2 minutes.
How GrowthZone calculates proration
GrowthZone divides the annual amount by 12, multiplies by the number of months, and only then rounds to the cent.
- Start with the full annual dues for the membership type.
- Divide by 12 to get one month.
- Multiply by the number of months to prorate.
- Round the result to the nearest cent.
Example
For a membership with $350 annual dues:
| Months | Calculation | Prorated amount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $350 ÷ 12 = $29.1666… | $29.17 |
| 10 | $350 ÷ 12 × 10 = $291.6666… | $291.67 |
Checkpoint: Your figure matches the amount on the invoice.
Common pitfalls
- Rounding the monthly amount first: $29.17 × 10 = $291.70, which won’t match GrowthZone’s $291.67. Round only the final result.
