Your Engagement Overview already shows you how your members are doing — who's a champion, who's coasting, and who's at risk. Engagement Campaigns is where you act on it. Instead of exporting a list, rebuilding it in a separate email tool, and writing a message from scratch (by which point the moment has often passed), you can build, target, and send a member campaign in one guided flow — with audience segments driven by real engagement data and a built-in AI Writing Assistant to speed up drafting. In short: engagement becomes something you do, not just something you measure.

Before you read further — two things to know
These two points define what this release does and does not do. Read them before your first send.
- GrowthZone AMS only. Engagement Campaigns is available exclusively on GrowthZone AMS. It is not available on other AMS platforms.
- Single sends, not sequences. Each campaign is a single send to a single audience. Multi-step sequences, drip flows, and automated follow-ups are not part of this release.
Before You Begin:
- Engagement Campaigns live in the Engagement module and are included at no additional cost — there's no separate add-on to purchase.
- You'll need permission to send member communications from your GrowthZone account.
- It helps to review your Engagement Overview first so you know which segment — for example, at-risk or renewal-due members — you want to reach.
The Campaigns Dashboard
Open the Engagement module from the left-hand navigation and select Engagement Campaigns. At the top, you'll see summary stats — campaigns sent (compared to the previous 90 days), average open rate, average click rate, and unsubscribes. Below that, a table lists your campaigns with their open rate, bounce rate, unsubscribes, number sent, and send date. Click any campaign (or Edit) to view the message that was sent.
Quick Checklist Before Your First Campaign
- Confirm you're on GrowthZone AMS — this feature won't appear otherwise.
- Decide on a single audience for a single send — there are no sequences in this release.
- Pick an engagement-based segment rather than building a manual list.
- Draft your content, using the AI Writing Assistant if helpful, then edit it before sending.
- Choose your timing on the Schedule step — send now, pick a date and time, or use the optimal send time.
- Use the Review & send step to double-check audience and content before you launch.
- After sending, check performance metrics to inform the next campaign.
- Remember that segments reflect the last daily score refresh, not live activity.
Create a Campaign: The Five-Step Wizard
Click New Campaign to launch the guided wizard. Building a campaign follows a single guided flow rather than a scattered set of screens, and your work is saved as a draft at every step, so you can pause and return at any time. Each step validates before you can advance, so you can't accidentally send an incomplete campaign.
-
Campaign details: Choose your campaign type and give the campaign a name (for example, "Fall Re-Engagement").
-
Audience: Choose who receives the campaign using the pre-built engagement segments — At-Risk, Champions, and Renewal Due. Audiences are built from members' actual engagement rather than static list membership, so you can target the right members without exporting and re-importing lists. A relevant segment is often pre-selected for you based on your campaign type.
-
Content: Write your email. Use the AI Writing Assistant to generate a first draft in your association's voice, then refine or regenerate it — or enter a custom prompt to steer the tone and theme. You can add merge fields and call-to-action buttons to the email body. You stay in control: the assistant produces a starting point you can edit before sending.
-
Schedule: Decide when it goes out — send now, schedule a specific date and time, or let GrowthZone send at the optimal send time.
-
Review & send: Review the email with your merge fields populated from your real data, confirm audience, content, and send details in one place, and click Launch. Nothing sends until you approve it here.
Once you launch, your new campaign appears at the top of the campaigns list. Every campaign is sent through GrowthZone Communications, so it appears in your Communications history as you'd expect.
After the Send: Campaign Performance
Once a campaign has gone out, you can see how it performed. Performance metrics report on delivery and engagement with the send — open rate, click rate, bounce rate, unsubscribes, and number sent — on the campaigns dashboard and on the campaign itself. Use them to gauge what landed and carry those learnings into your next campaign.
Good to Know
- You're always in control. The AI assists with writing, but it never sends on its own — a person reviews and approves every message.
- Your members' personal information stays protected. Only merge-field placeholders are sent to the AI. Real member details are filled in afterward by the Communications module, so personal information isn't shared with the AI.
- Engagement scores refresh daily. The engagement scores behind your segments are recalculated once per day, so the segments you target reflect engagement as of the most recent daily refresh rather than live, moment-to-moment activity. If a member's engagement changes today, expect that to be reflected in tomorrow's segments.
Common Pitfalls
- Skipping the review step: Always check the review page so your merge fields and personalization look correct before you launch — it's your last chance to catch a mistake.
- Expecting real-time segments: Because engagement data refreshes once a day, a segment reflects yesterday's activity. Keep that in mind when timing time-sensitive outreach.
- Planning a drip sequence: This release sends one campaign to one audience. If you want a follow-up, build and send it as a separate campaign.
