Your Engagement Overview already shows you how your members are doing — who's a champion, who's coasting, and who's at risk. Engagement Campaigns is where you act on it. Instead of exporting a list, rebuilding it in a separate email tool, and writing a message from scratch (by which point the moment has often passed), you can reach the right members with the right message right where you already see the data. In short: engagement becomes something you do, not just something you measure.
Before You Begin:
- Engagement Campaigns lives in the Engagement module and is included at no additional cost — there's no separate add-on to purchase.
- You'll need permission to send member communications from your GrowthZone account.
- It helps to review your Engagement Overview first so you know which segment — for example, at-risk or renewal-due members — you want to reach.
The Campaigns Dashboard
Open the Engagement module from the left-hand navigation and select Engagement Campaigns. At the top you'll see summary stats — campaigns sent (compared to the previous 90 days), average open rate, average click rate, and unsubscribes. Below that, a table lists your campaigns with their open rate, bounce rate, unsubscribes, number sent, and send date. Click any campaign (or Edit) to view the message that was sent.
Create a Campaign: The Five-Step Wizard
Click New Campaign to launch the guided wizard. Your work is saved as a draft at every step, so you can pause and come back at any time.
- Campaign details: Choose your campaign type and give the campaign a name (for example, "Fall Re-Engagement").
- Audience: Choose who receives the campaign using the pre-built engagement segments — At-Risk, Champions, and Renewal Due. A relevant segment is often pre-selected for you based on your campaign type.
- Content: Write your email. Use the AI writing assistant to generate a first draft in your association's voice, then refine or regenerate it — or enter a custom prompt to steer the tone and theme. You can add merge fields and call-to-action buttons to the email body.
- Schedule: Decide when it goes out — send now, schedule a specific date and time, or let GrowthZone send at the optimal send time.
- Review & send: Review the email with your merge fields populated from your real data, confirm everything looks right, and click Launch. Nothing sends until you approve it here.
Once you launch, your new campaign appears at the top of the campaigns list. Every campaign is sent through GrowthZone Communications, so it appears in your Communications history as you'd expect.
Good to Know
- You're always in control. The AI assists with writing, but it never sends on its own—a person reviews and approves every message.
- Your members' personal information stays protected. Only merge-field placeholders are sent to the AI. Real member details are filled in afterward by the Communications module, so personal information isn't shared with the AI.
- Segments refresh daily. Your engagement segments reflect the prior day's signals rather than the current moment, so a segment shows yesterday's audience.
Common Pitfalls
- Skipping the review step: Always check the review page so your merge fields and personalization look correct before you launch — it's your last chance to catch a mistake.
- Expecting real-time segments: Because engagement data refreshes once a day, a segment reflects yesterday's activity. Keep that in mind when timing time-sensitive outreach.
