The Symptom: Offer Registration Protection is turned on for an event, but some registrants never see the Registration Protection option at checkout. It usually disappears after the registrant makes a donation or registers as a sponsor or exhibitor.
The Root Cause: Registration Protection only covers registration and attendance fees. When the cart includes any other type of payment, such as a contribution amount greater than $0, a sponsorship fee, or an exhibitor fee, GrowthZone doesn't provide protection for that checkout. Collect Contributions and Registration Protection are not mutually exclusive: both can stay enabled on the same event. The option is shown or hidden for each registrant based on what's in their cart.
The Fix
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- In the left-hand rail, go to Events & Learning → Events → All Events - List View and open the event.
- Click the pencil icon on General Information and confirm Offer Registration Protection is checked.
- Leave Collect Contributions turned on if you want to accept donations. You don't need to turn it off to offer protection.
- Let registrants know that protection is available for attendee registrations without an added donation. A registrant who wants both can register with protection first and give a donation separately.
- Click Save if you changed anything.
Verification: How to know it worked Start a test registration as an attendee with the donation amount left at $0; the Registration Protection option appears at checkout. Add a donation amount above $0 (or register as a sponsor or exhibitor) and the option is no longer shown. That confirms the event is set up correctly.
