OVERVIEW

VoterVoice (https://votervoice.net/) is a third-party advocacy and lobbying platform. When enabled and linked, GrowthZone provides a nightly sync of contact information to VoterVoice, updating contact records in VoterVoice to reflect changes made to contacts in GrowthZone. The sync in GrowthZone will send Active and Courtesy Member contact records and send them to the VoterVoice database. This is a one-way sync/push. You should update the contact records in GrowthZone and let it push to VoterVoice.

Use the following steps to enable VoterVoice:

  1. Select Setup in the Navigation Panel.
  2. Select VoterVoice in the Integrations section.

  3. Click the Is Enabled check-box.
  4. Enter the VoterVoice API Key. You must contact VoterVoice to receive this key.
  5. Enter the VoterVoice Association Name. Provided by VoterVoice when you sign up with them and again when you get your VoterVoice API Key. Contact VoterVoice support if you need to find this information. Might also be called API Username or System Username.
  6. (Optional) Filter Contacts to Specific Membership Types. If you do not wish to send ALL active and courtesy contacts to VoterVoice, you can select the membership types of the contacts you do wish to sync.
  7. Click Save.

The sync will start at approximately 00:25 UTC, which is 7:25 pm CDT. The completion time varies based on number of contacts that need to sync and other GrowthZone processes in progress at that time. Expect that the sync will not be completed for 12 hours but it will likely be done much sooner.

To check for updated records: in VoterVoice go to Contacts, Search Contacts and specify a Search field of “Date Modified” equal to the date you want to see who was updated.

Note: The List Uploads in VoterVoice do not record an entry when the sync runs.

First  time setting up the sync, but you have contacts already in VoterVoice Connection? If you came from another member management software that synced contacts over to VoterVoice but now are going to use GrowthZone, you may wish to connect with VoterVoice support to assist in getting your VoterVoice contacts updated with the GrowthZone contact IDs. Another option is to delete the contacts in VoterVoice, and then GrowthZone will create new contacts when the sync is run. Refer to VoterVoice for details on pros and cons of deleting the VoterVoice contacts.

Tip: If you run the GrowthZone Contacts Report, filtered to Individuals with a Status of Active and Courtesy and with the above Fields to Display, you’ll have a good idea of what is being synced over to VoterVoice. Note that the sync does not pass each record every night, just changes and new records.

Other Things to Note:

  • VoterVoice sync only updates and adds contacts into the VoterVoice “Default List”. The sync cannot update or add contact to other lists created in VoterVoice.
  • A GrowthZone contact address will not come across in the sync if that address is identified as an invalid address by VoterVoice.
  • Address Line 1 and Address Line 2 both end up in VoterVoice Street field. Line 2 info is appended to the end of Line 1 info and both go in the Street field. This is true for both the contact and the business.
