The Goal: Set up Autopay so members’ stored cards or bank accounts are charged automatically for recurring fees such as membership dues, and find every Autopay article from one place.
Before You Begin:
- Autopay works only with the GrowthZone Pay and NAR eCommerce gateways. A gateway must be set up first: go to Finance, Administrative section, click Billing Settings and select Payment Gateways.
- Members can store credit cards, and bank accounts with GrowthZone Pay, in the Info Hub. Staff can also store cards in the back office.

Step 1: Store a payment profile
- Staff, in the back office: Store and assign a payment profile
- Members, in the Info Hub: Store Credit Cards in Info Hub or Store Bank Account/ACH Profile in the Info Hub
- To help members do this themselves, share Info Hub Training for Your Members.
Step 2: Assign the profile to recurring fees
- In the back office: Store and assign a payment profile
- In the Info Hub: Manage AutoPay in the Info Hub
Step 3: Understand how Autopay bills
When and how stored profiles are charged depends on your billing setup:
- When stored payment profiles are charged
- Run upcoming billing
- Automated Scheduled Billing
- Membership Renewal Overview
NOTE: If Recalculation or Effective Date Pricing is used at renewal, all membership items, voluntary and non-voluntary, are charged to the stored profile. When you tell members about a price increase, mention this so they can choose to keep or turn off Autopay.
Manage and report on Autopay
- See who’s on Autopay: Stored Payment Profiles Report
- Change or remove Autopay in the back office: Change or remove Autopay for a member
- Members managing their own Autopay: Manage AutoPay in the Info Hub and View Billing Transactions and Pay Invoices in Info Hub
- Autopay on a contact record: My Billing Info: Autopay & Billing Tab
- Related settings: General Billing Settings: every setting explained and Billing overview: pages, dashboard and common questions
Common Pitfalls
- No option to store a card or bank account: a GrowthZone Pay or NAR eCommerce gateway isn’t set up.
- Stored but never charged: storing a profile isn’t enough. It must also be assigned to the recurring fees (Step 2).
- Members surprised by voluntary items on their card: with Recalculation or Effective Date Pricing, all items are charged. Tell members ahead of a price change.
