The Goal: Understand the Objectives setup sequence and navigate to the right sub-articles to configure Objective Collections, Categories, Sub-categories, and individual Objectives.
Before You Begin:
- Objectives are optional — they are not required for Components or Certifications.
- Often set by a national or governing organization, Objectives are attached to Components such that if a person successfully completes the Component they meet the Objective.
- TIP: If Objectives are part of a Component it is helpful to set them up first, though you can go back later and add them.
Objectives Setup Overview
The Objectives page in the Continuing Education section includes Objective Collections, Objective Categories & Sub-categories, and the actual Objectives. Follow the sub-articles below in sequence:

Common Pitfalls
- Setting up Objectives after Components: While you can add Objectives retroactively, it is much easier to set them up before building Components. Plan your Objective hierarchy first.
- Skipping Collections: Objectives cannot exist without a Collection. Always start with Create Objective Collections before attempting to add Categories or Objectives.
