Details
RETS (Real Estate Transaction Standard) is a feed of data from the REALTOR Association’s MLS and SimplyRets is a platform that abstracts the fetching and parsing of a RETS feed, allowing listings to display and/or be searchable on the website.
Gathering RETS Information From the Customer
Before we can start setting up a RETS feed, we will need to collect the following information from the customer:
-
RETS Login URL
-
RETS Username
-
RETS Password
-
Google Maps API Key (if map is desired)
Test the credentials here before going to the next step: https://retsmd.com/
Setting Up SimplyRETS
Go to https://simplyrets.com/login and enter GrowthZone’s shared credentials.
-
Username is GZRealEstate@growthzone.com
-
Password is k*aZJXAGEylBoiMRZqrG
(can also be found in Teams under the New Customer Success > General channel by going to the Potpourri tab at the top, clicking the arrow on the left side of the OneNote document, and selecting the “Shared Credentials” document.)
From the SimplyRETS dashboard, click on “YOUR APPS” as shown below:
Ignore the Trial App and click the “DETAILS” link for GrowthZone.
The following screen will provide the API key and API secret needed to set up the plugin on the GZCMS dashboard, but this information will be the same for all customers. You will also see a list of existing feeds and their Vendor ID, which is needed for setting up the shortcodes on their website.
Click “Add new credentials” to start setting up a new feed
Leave the Type dropdown as “RETS” and enter the Username, Password, and URL provided by the customer. If they provided a User-Agent and User-Agent Password, this should be entered here as well, but not all feeds will have this information. Click SUBMIT to initiate the Sync, which may take a couple days. Once the confirmation email is received, you can begin using the shortcodes on their GZCMS website to feed in this information, and the status within SimplyRETS will no longer display as “syncing.”
