Why Benefit Tracking?
Benefit Tracking can be a great way for associations to gain additional revenue. This can be done in many ways, but we’ve listed a few more common scenarios below. In order for associations to be able to run these types of programs - they need a tool (like the one we’ve now built!) to track:
-
who is using the additional program benefits
-
what benefits remain to be used
-
a way to report back to their affiliates & members
Without a tool like ours, there can be a heavy expense to the staff hours needed to manually track this data in spreadsheets and such. It's tedious work, that takes a lot of time. Plus it makes communicating out the status of benefits and demonstrating that value incredibly challenging.
Different Benefit Tracking Program Examples
Tiered Dues – upgraded memberships with benefits, often resulting in members that upgrade to get additional benefits they want; members are ‘stickier’ and happier with this model vs. the ‘fair share’ model* (fair share - meaning every member gets the same features and benefits. For more on this see an awesome article that Frank Kenny wrote titled “Membership Dues: Fair Share is Grossly Unfair”)
-
Example: Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce
Affiliate programs – programs offered to businesses that are related to the main membership base; often a paid affiliation.
-
Example: East Polk County Association of REALTORS:
Sponsorships – exposure of brand, image, and company in exchange for their purchase of a sponsorship; often available to members as an add-on to their membership
-
Example: Georgia Motor Trucking Association
