The Goal: Make changes to an invoice in Best Practice Mode — either general information changes or full line-item edits — while maintaining accounting integrity.
Before You Begin:
- Best Practice Mode must be enabled on your account.
- In BP Mode, invoices cannot be directly edited or deleted — you must use the Edit Invoice function for line-item changes.
Option A – General Invoice Information Changes
For non-line-item changes (contact, address, billing email, memo, delivery preferences, payment gateway, invoice template), click the invoice link directly. These fields remain editable in BP Mode.
Examples of general invoice changes:
- Change invoice contact, billing address, or billing email
- Add an invoice message or internal memo
- Adjust whether an invoice is set to be printed and/or emailed
- Advanced Options
- Change the payment gateway used to accept payments for the invoice
- Set a new invoice template
Option B – Edit Line Items on an Invoice
- For the desired contact, click the Billing tab on their contact record.
- In the Billing section, click the icon for the invoice you wish to edit.
- Click Edit Invoice.
- Make the desired changes to the line items. The invoice number will be the original number followed by -C.
- Click Done.
Common Pitfalls
- Members receiving a link to the old invoice: GrowthZone automatically redirects all links to the original invoice to the corrected (-C) invoice. Members who click an outdated email link will be taken to the corrected version.
- Attempting to delete instead of void: In BP Mode, delete is not available. Use Void if the invoice needs to be canceled entirely.
