Background
AffiniPay was added as an alternative gateway option May 2021.
Original customer: Macomb County Bar Associations T1444, Rick Troy.
Our team: John Schmalenberg, main developer, Scott Pederson, QA, Scott Juranek, architect, Brenda Lundeen, Product
Contact at AffiniPay: Janelle Benefield, jbenefield@affinipay.com, VP OF ASSOCIATION PAYMENTS
Overview
AffiniPay functions just like Authorize.net does - - All the reporting is done in AffiniPay’s portal that the customer will log into separately. Afinipay provides both a merchant account and the payment gateway.
Pricing
Per Janelle at Affinipay “The current pricing we have agreed to with GrowthZone is 3.29% and $.25 for all Visa, MasterCard, and Discover transactions. The pricing for American Express charges is 3.99% and $.25. Any charges processed through your API integration are charged at those pricing tiers.” 9/28/2021
Setup
Refer these customers to the Engagement Team. They will setup the recurring monthly alternate gateway charge in T1 for this customer. Then will add the AffiniPay gateway and save it with a gateway name on behalf of the customer. They access the customer tenant thru T1 Admin. (just like we do for Authorize.net gateways) Then the customer will see AffiniPay as a Gateway to be added.
Provide the customer with these next steps to complete the gateway setup…

Troubleshooting AffiniPay
AffiniPay is both the merchant account and the gateway. The troubleshooting we will do is limited - similar to how we troubleshoot Authorize.net issues. Customer will still retain access to their own AffiniPay portal access and can check things out there. Our Payment Processing report will record their payments etc, but most questions about specific reasons a card is denied etc or other processor specific questions would need to go back to AffiniPay.
Why Choose AffiniPay?
Some of our customers come to us from an AMS (see list below) where they are already using AffiniPay. Being able to keep that payment processor could be a way to
-
Reduce barriers for them in the sale
-
no need to ‘sell’ them on the payment processing features and rates
-
-
Reduce support tickets
-
they already know how their AffiniPay portal and reports work
-
-
Reduce friction for their members with stored cards
-
we are able to tie them to a GZ contact
-
What AMS software often has AffiniPay?
-
AffiniPay is embeded in other AMS platforms but may be labeled differently
-
LawPay and ClientPay- for legal bar association management software
-
CPACharge - for accountants
-
DesignPay - architects
-
AffiniPay for Associations (Your Membership) see logo list

Unified Virginia Chiropractic Association, Melissa Luce, is coming over to GZ from YourMembership, where she had AffiniPay. We will be tying the stored cards in AffiniPay to GZ contacts. See Jira GZ-25380 for current status. Once it has been done, we will be able to develop a process around the steps.
Setting up More than 1 AffiniPay Gateway in a single tenant
If they happen to have two different AffiniPay accounts, then after they setup the first AffiniPay account, then we need to know their account ID for the 2nd AffiniPay account and then we need to set that up for them. Our software doesn’t allow you to connect/authorize to more than 1 AffiniPay account at this time in the UI but we can do it manually directly in the database.
Have the customer create the 2nd gateway (it will be pointed to the wrong account initially). But then once we get their 2nd account number, we can plug that in directly into the database for that 2nd gateway.
We did this for State Bar of South Dakota. (Jira where we did this for them - https://micronetonline.atlassian.net/browse/GZ-26008)
