The Goal: Understand each logic branch option available when building a workflow, so you can route contacts down the right path based on their behavior or membership status.
Before You Begin:
- You need access to Marketing & Communication, Marketing Automation section.
- You should have a workflow already created (or be in the process of building one) where you want to add a logic branch step.
Step-by-Step Instructions
There are several options for logic branches within your workflow. When you add a logic branch step, you choose a Logic Condition Type that determines how the workflow evaluates each contact.
The available Logic Condition Types are:
- Message has been opened: This logic branch type will check to see if the message selected has been opened by the contact in the workflow. Selecting the “If False?” option will advance the step if the message has NOT been opened.
- Landing page has been viewed: This logic branch type will check to see if the landing page specified has been viewed.
- Landing page form has been submitted: This logic branch type will check to see if a form embedded on the landing page specified has been submitted.
- Active Member: This logic branch type will check to see if the contact in the workflow has an active membership status. Selecting the “If False?” option will advance the step if the contact is NOT an active member.
- Dropped Member: This logic branch type will check to see if the contact in the workflow has a dropped membership status. Selecting the “If False?” option will advance the step if the contact does NOT have a dropped membership status.
Common Pitfalls
- Forgetting the “If False?” path: The “If False?” option reverses the condition (e.g., advancing contacts who have NOT opened the message). Confirm which path you want before activating the workflow, or contacts may be routed in the opposite direction from what you intended.
