This article describes the process of adding a user to a Google Analytics property with full access.
-
First, log in to Google Analytics with a support account at https://analytics.google.com .
-
Locate the desired property by searching via tracking ID or association name.
-
Select Admin to the lower left of the screen.
-
At the PROPERTY level, select PROPERTY USER MANAGEMENT.
-
Select the + sign to the top right of the resulting page.
-
Add the Gmail account and select EDIT, COLLABORATE, READ & ANALYZE, and MANAGE USERS. Select ADD.
-
VERY IMPORTANT: If the user already exists in the Google Analytics property the user must first be REMOVED in order to receive the appropriate permissions. Otherwise, if you try to edit a user’s permissions and see a screen like this, then this would give that user permissions to all 50 properties on the account and requires that the user be saved before editing any access to the other 49 properties.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Users cannot remove permissions from users with a higher level of permissions. They will receive an error indicating this if they attempt to remove another user that has permission rights higher than their own so customers should not be able to remove any staff users from any of the Google Analytics properties.
Customers should only receive this amount of access if specifically requested. Otherwise they should be set to READ/ANALYZE at the VIEW level User Management option.
