Introduction
Our GrowthZone customers will request a proposal to implement the QBO integration. Once this proposal has been accepted and they have performed the necessary setup, GrowthZone will enable Best Practice Mode and the QBO Integration.
Best Practice Mode and QBO checklist
Before enabling BP mode or the QBO it's important to check to make sure that the customer is both a good fit for the integration and ready to continue with the integration process. Double check the following items before enabling BP mode or configuring the QBO integration:
-
Confirm the customer is based in the United States
-
Confirm the customer has a GZ Pay gateway or is a real estate association
-
Confirm the customer has set at least 1 closed period
Enabling Best Practice Mode must be performed by GrowthZone staff. To do so, follow the instructions below:
- Click Setup in the left hand navigations
- Click General Settings in the Finance section. If Best Practice mode has not previously been enabled you will see the option to enable.
- Tick the check-box for Enable Best Practice. IMPORTANT: Once enabled this setting cannot be disabled.
- Click Save.
Configure GrowthZone Integration for QuickBooks Online
The GrowthZone integration with QuickBooks Online has 3 parts:
- Enable appropriate modules on the customer's tenant
- Install the GrowthZone QuickBooks integration
- Disable modules not needed outside of setup
Enable modules on the customer's tenant
In T1, enable these 2 modules for the customer's tenant:
- QuickBooks Online Integration
- API Access
If the customer has purchased API Access then that module may already be enabled.
GrowthZone Connection to QuickBooks Online
This step involves creating an API key for the GrowthZone Native Integration app and then adding the API key to the QuickBooks Online integration.
Create API Key
- Go to Setup -> Applications -> API Key Permissions
- Click Add
- Enter Native and choose GrowthZone - Native Integrations
- Click Done to save your changes
- Copy the string of characters that appears in the API Key column
Add API Key to QuickBooks Online Integration
- Go to Setup -> Integrations -> Install QuickBooks Online
- Click Install
- Review the Best Practice mode warning. If BP mode is already enabled or you are ready to enable, click Ok.
- Click Connect GrowthZone
- In the new tab that opens, paste the API Key in the API Key field.
- Click Submit to save your changes. The page will update to show the submission was successful.
- Close the tab
Disable API Module After Configuration
Once you have installed the QuickBooks Online integration in the customer's tenant you can disable the API module for their tenant.
In T1, disable the API Access module.
Only do this if you had to enable the API Access module in step 1. This will prevent a customer from losing access to a module they've purchased.
You've finished the GrowthZone portion of setup for the QuickBooks Online integration. The database is now ready for a customer to complete the integration. See QuickBooks Online Integration - Getting Started for information on the customer's steps.
